Day 37 – Snow Flakes

Day 37 – I was staring outside today as the snow felt gently to the ground and was in awe of how each one of those flakes is different than the next. It is truly AWESOME that God takes care with every single thing including little flakes. The God of the Universe knows and has counted every hair on our heads. So why do we question and fear and really have little faith?

It is crazy if you think about it in the grand scheme of things. We see miracles all around us that we discount as ordinary life.

My husband and I were very blessed to participate in the only Christian Opera to ever be performed on the Bolshoi Theatre stage. It was during that time that I realized how "human" those disciples really were. They saw miracles performed right in front of them and yet they continually questioned and had little faith. We, too, see things all around us and while it isn't Jesus himself standing in front of us – we still question and don't trust God.

Mark 4:35 – 41

Jesus Calms the Storm

35That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side." 36Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"

39He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

40He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"

41They were terrified and asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!"

If you look carefully, even the disciples who had just seen Jesus calm the storm are questioning who he really is. I pulled this passage out because it reminds me that even when we feel like we are failing or falling apart at following Christ – we really are on this incredible journey to grow closer to Him and truly understand His wonderful gifts for us. We are going to fall short in our faith but take heart because even those disciples who walked with Jesus questioned. Satan would like nothing more than to make you feel more guilty and to feel like you are far off the path so that you miss the other blessings Jesus if giving to you on a daily basis. Keep your eyes FIXED on Jesus and while you will fall short, He will understand and be there to pull you back on your feet.
